Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to bolster his midfield department in the summer. The reigning Champions of Europe have been linked with several top midfielders in the last few months, that suggests, despite having an avalanche of midfield options at disposal, Ancelotti is still looking to add more quality in central midfield.

Ramires

Going by the media reports, Madrid have shown great interest in Juventus duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba. I’m not going into details, whether a bid has been made or personal offer has been provided, etc, because, these are hard to confirm, unless it becomes official.

Yesterday, we reported that Madrid are plotting a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, who has less than a year on his contract.

Now, Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Ancelotti is weighing up other options and has targeted Chelsea’s midfielder Ramires, who is currently focussing on World Cup with Brazil.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who has a market value of €30m, has had an average last season for Chelsea, despite making 30 appearances for the Blues. Ancelotti knows him very well, having signed him in 2010, when he was the manager of the London club. The Italian is also interested in PSG’s young midfielder Marco Verratti.

Chelsea meanwhile have taken the first move in signing Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The Blues have lodged a formal offer for the Spaniard, though have yet to discuss personal terms with Fabregas.
